Fortunately, Howard had spoken with a financial adviser and taken
out critical illness cover with Bright Grey. And as soon as he
fell ill, we asked a personal nurse adviser to help in any way
they could.
The nurse in question was Jan Dryden, one of the
fully qualified and experienced nurses working for RED ARC*. Initially,
Jan provided invaluable emotional support to Howard’s wife,
Louise, who was finding it difficult to cope on her own looking
after 2 young children.
But, as Howard’s recovery progressed, Jan’s support
focussed more on his needs. He had benefited from excellent NHS
treatment and now Jan was able to discuss the options for supplementary
treatment available under his Bright Grey plan.
In addition to his financial payout, his plan supported 9 physiotherapy
sessions with Sky Blue Therapy, specialists in helping people
with neurological injuries. This really helped improve his mobility
to the point that he can now move around much more independently.
In fact, he’s back at work and busier than ever.
Howard is grateful for the extra help and support Bright Grey’s
Helping Hand gave him and his family.
“I am not sure I would be where I am now if
I hadn’t had the extra help from Bright Grey. I don’t
think I would be back at work again so quickly and don’t
doubt that the emotional impact on my family would have been far
greater.”
*In the film Howard refers to RED ARC.
This is the independent company that provides part of the Helping
Hand service to Bright Grey plan owners. And the pot of money
that helped Howard reach his full potential is not available as
a cash pay out but as funding towards support services. The level
of support depends on individual needs and circumstances.
