When Sharon Richmond, a 40-year-old nurse from Weymouth, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, it was fortunate she had Life or Critical Illness Cover with Bright Grey.
Not only did she receive her claim payment quickly, which meant that she and her husband Jake could pay off their mortgage and debts. But within 24 hours of making the claim, she also received a
call from Judy, her RED ARC* nurse, to ask if there was anything she could do to help.
Sharon says: "You come away from the diagnosis shell shocked, but if you want to see anyone for help or advice, you're put on a waiting list. Judy has been brilliant. She gave me loads of information about the condition, and contact details of organisations that could help."
Judy also advised Sharon about diet and supplied her with a 'vibration therapy machine', which helps to relieve symptoms. We include Helping Hand in every Bright Grey menu plan, so there was no extra cost for this equipment, or the support of her nurse.
Jake says: "I'm not just saying this. We seriously cannot speak highly enough of Bright Grey. Judy has phoned every day – it's made us feel like we weren't just a number. It sounds clichéd, but we felt that the company cared about us."
So would they recommend Bright Grey? "We've already recommended you," says Jake. "This experience has taught us that having a protection plan isn't just about the money. The money is a massive factor, but it's not the only thing."
Sharon and Jake kindly allowed us to film their story to show us in their own words the difference Helping Hand made to them. You can watch their story above.
*RED ARC is the independent company that provides part of the Helping Hand service to Bright Grey plan owners. The pot of money
that helped Sharon is not available as a cash pay out but as funding towards support services. The level of support depends on individual needs and circumstances.
